These Terms of Service govern access to the Crossroad.co.uk website, mobile applications, and related services (“Crossroad”, “we”, “us”). By using Crossroad, you agree to follow these Terms and our safety rules.
1. Acceptance of these Terms
By creating an account, viewing profiles, sending messages, likes, gifts, or using any Crossroad feature, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. About Crossroad
Crossroad is a Christian dating website and app for adults seeking serious relationships based on faith, respect, and honest communication. We do not guarantee matches, marriage, compatibility, or any particular outcome.
3. Adults only
Crossroad is only for users aged 18 or over. Minors may not register or use the service. We may request additional checks, restrict access, or remove an account if we have concerns about a user's age.
4. Registration and account security
You must provide honest and current information, use only your own photographs, and not impersonate another person. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity on your account. If you suspect unauthorised access, contact us as soon as possible.
5. Community rules
Crossroad does not allow:
- abuse, threats, pressure, harassment, discrimination, or hateful conduct;
- deception, scams, requests for money, investment schemes, fake profiles, or spam;
- sexually explicit, unlawful, violent, or degrading content;
- content involving minors, attempts to contact minors, or any signs of child exploitation;
- sharing another person's personal data without permission;
- advertising, bulk messaging, scraping, data harvesting, or automated activity.
6. User content
You keep ownership of your content, but you grant Crossroad a limited licence to store, display, process, moderate, and technically transmit that content as needed to operate the service. You are responsible for what you submit in your profile, photos, messages, and posts.
7. Profile, photo, and post moderation
We may review profile information, photos, posts, and other profile content before or after publication. We may reject, hide, remove, or request replacement content if it breaches the rules, is misleading, contains someone else's photos, shows several people where the profile owner is unclear, contains unsafe content, or appears suspicious.
8. Messages, reports, and conversation review
Private messages are not public. However, to protect users, we may process and, in limited cases, manually review messages when:
- a user reports a message, profile, or behaviour;
- there are signs of scams, spam, threats, harassment, unlawful content, or safety risks;
- review is needed to investigate rule breaches, protect the service, or comply with law;
- messages relate to blocking, moderation, support, or a dispute.
Access to such data should be limited to authorised administration and used only for safety, support, moderation, and legal obligations.
9. Reporting and blocking
Users can report profiles, photos, messages, and behaviour, and can block other users. If you block a user, we may hide the conversation and limit further interaction between you. The administration may review reports and take action at its discretion.
10. Enforcement and account removal
We reserve the right to warn users, hide content, reject photos, restrict features, temporarily block, suspend, or delete accounts if a user breaches these Terms, our safety rules, the law, or creates risk for others. In serious cases, we may remove an account without prior notice and prohibit re-registration, including by the same email, device, or other indicators.
11. Paid features, subscriptions, and virtual items
Some features may be paid, including subscriptions, gifts, coins, or other virtual items. Payment, renewal, and cancellation terms may depend on where the purchase was made: the website, App Store, Google Play, or a payment provider. Virtual items are not a bank account, cash deposit, or financial product.
12. Refunds and cancellation
If a purchase was made through the App Store or Google Play, refunds are usually handled by that store under its own rules. For website purchases, contact support. We may refuse a refund where the service has been used, rules were breached, or the request does not meet the applicable terms.
13. Account deletion by users
You may request account deletion through settings or support. After deletion, some data may be deleted or anonymised, but certain records may be retained for a limited period for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, accounting, complaint handling, or defence of rights.
14. Safety when communicating and meeting
Use caution when communicating online and meeting in person. Do not send money to people you do not know personally, avoid sharing unnecessary personal details, and report suspicious behaviour. In-person meetings are arranged by users at their own risk.
15. Intellectual property
The Crossroad name, design, logos, text, code, and service elements belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, or use them without permission, except where expressly allowed by law.
16. Availability and changes
We try to keep the service stable, but we do not guarantee that it will always be error-free, uninterrupted, or unchanged. We may modify, limit, or discontinue features.
17. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Crossroad is not responsible for user actions, profile or message content, dating outcomes, in-person meetings, data loss caused by external events, or indirect losses.
18. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer protection laws require otherwise.
